About the studios
Where are the studios?
The studios are located in the peaceful surrounds of Glenfern, a historic Gothic mansion in St Kilda East.
Address: 417 Inkerman St (cnr Hotham St), St Kilda East (carpark off Inkerman St).
Who can apply?
Applications for studio spaces are open to writers of all genres – fiction, non-fiction, poetry, play, film and television – as well as education and academic writers. Writers can be at any stage: beginning, emerging or established. VWC members and non-members are eligible.
Applicants must provide details of the writing project they plan to work on at Glenfern and how much time they plan to spend there each week. Preference is given to applicants who will use the studio on a regular basis.
How long are the tenancies?
Tenancies can be for periods of 1–6 months, with the possibility of extension to 12 months.
What is included
a desk, chair, overhead light, radiant heater and power points
access to phone and wi-fi internet connections, but connection and associated costs are at the occupant's expense

Special conditions
Residential use is not permitted. There are several larger rooms that are ideal for sharing. If you are interested in sharing a studio, you can organise someone to share with yourself, or let us know and we will see if there is someone else looking to share at the same time; you will then need to manage the sharing arrangements yourselves. Respect must be shown for Glenfern's other tenants through quiet use.
