Editing Your Own Work
Wednesday 1 September 2010 - Wednesday 6 October 2010
Learn to see your work through fresh eyes, define your readership, correct common faults and apply that final polish. This course covers fiction, non-fiction and prose writing using samples of participants’ work to study the principles of grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, point of view, pace, metaphor, links and transitions, and the differences between narration, description and dialogue. Participants should email a work sample (up to 1500 words) prior to the course start. Submission deadline: 18 August.
Awarded Distinguished Editor by the Institute of Professional Editors, Janet Mackenzie has been a professional editor for more than 30 years and is the author of The Editor’s Companion.
