This is a nuts and bolts workshop that gives new writers the gen on the publishing industry. Learn how to boost your chances of getting favourably noticed by publishers. Topics include industry standards, pitching your work, types of publishing, copyright issues and how to present your work, amongst others. Myths will be shattered, and useful references and notes will be provided. Be prepared to murder your babies! Editing your own writing can be a difficult process but this important ingredient of the writer’s craft cannot be ignored. Practical exercises and some useful guidelines will reveal industry standards.
Christine Nagel is a senior editor, manuscript assessor, former literary agent and professional writing and editing lecturer, with over 25 years’ experience in fiction and non-fiction publishing.
