The idea of getting paid to write is as popular as ever. Come along and hear how, why and where the paid writing opportunities dwell, and how to get closer to them. This session provides an overview of a variety of modes and genres, including fiction, freelance, business writing, jobs that include writing, carving out a niche and how to balance a portfolio career (which is a fancy term for doing a lot of things at once).

Melinda Bufton has a background in the booktrade and career development. She currently runs career consultancy Periscope Mode where she specialises in both creative career conundrums and earlyish career crises. She is also working on her first novel, slowly but surely. www.periscopemode.com.au
