Making a Mark in History

These historians and authors discuss the mechanics of non-fiction writing and research, and what it takes to produce great historical literature.
Robert Kenny is ARC Research Fellow in the History Program at La Trobe University. He has published broadly on literature, religion and the history of science. His The Lamb Enters the Dreaming: Nathanael Pepper and the Ruptured World won several awards including the 2008 Prime Minister’s Prize for Australian History.
Helen MacDonald’s book Human Remains won the 2006 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for a First Book of History and was shortlisted for the Ernest Scott History Prize. Her new book, Possessing the Dead, is due for publication in June 2010. Helen is currently the La Trobe Society Fellow at the State Library of Victoria.
