This is a Work of Fiction
Thursday 18 February 2010 - Thursday 17 June 2010
A practical workshop series for new and emerging writers of five sessions that explores a range of approaches to writing fiction and introduces a number of technical aspects of the fiction writers’ craft, including story structure and form, characterisation and narrative voice. The main focus of the sessions is the application of the strategies discussed to new works of original fiction. Participants are expected to work towards the completion of two or three short pieces that may be parts of a longer work in progress. The workshops involve frank and open discussion of new work in a constructively supportive environment.
Liam Davison’s novels include Soundings (1993), The White Woman (1994) and The Betrayal (2000). He has also published two collections of short fiction and has received a number of awards for his work. He has taught writing for many years at various institutions in Australia and the UK and currently writes for the books pages of The Australian.
