Writing and Illustrating for Children
Saturday 23 October 2010, 10:00AM - 4:00PM
This workshop opens the window to children’s writing through examples of stories, allowing participants to develop ideas and discover the process from the concept to the book. The workshop includes opportunities to shape stories, taking into consideration design and, for those willing, the chance to play with some illustrating techniques and styles.
Award-winning writer and illustrator Alison Lester began illustrating children’s books about 30 years ago, with her first book, Clive Eats Alligator, published as a result. In 1997 her first children’s novel, The Quicksand Pony was released and The Snow Pony followed in 1999. Over the last 10 years, she has visited and worked in many remote Indigenous schools and run workshops on writing and illustrating extensively across Australia.
