Tuesday 18 May 2010, 6:30PM - 8:00PM

Presented by: Max Barry and Alison Croggon
Rating: All levels
Type: Panel

Join writers Max Barry and Alison Croggon as they discuss the evolution of writing and language, the transition as a writer from print media to the web, and the strengths and challenges and broadening opportunity of writing in the digital age. After the publication of his novels Syrup, Jennifer Government, and Company, Max Barry turned to the web for the real-time serial Machine Man, which was delivered to readers one page per day via email and mobile phone. The serial attracted offers from publishers in Australia and the US and was acquired for film by Mandalay Pictures. Max is also the creator of the online game NationStates, which has been played by over two million people.

Alison Croggon writes in many genres, including poetry, criticism, theatre and prose. She is the author of the young adult fantasy quartet The Books of Pellinor. The series has been published to critical and popular acclaim in the US, the UK and Germany. She is Melbourne theatre critic for The Australian and keeps a blog of theatre criticism, 'Theatre Notes'.
