Writing the Motherlode

Wednesday 11 August 2010, 6:30PM - 8:00PM

Presented by: Jennifer Harrison and Teresa Bell
Rating: All levels
Type: Seminar

Writing the Motherlode is a seminar on the themes of poetry, motherhood and children. These two poets discuss the anthologising of women’s poetry on this subject and look at some key poems from the Australian treasure trove. The focus is on recent women’s writing from the past 20 years. Participants are invited to bring a poem to share with the group for discussion.

Jennifer Harrison has published four books of poetry and her fifth, Colombine New & Selected Poems, will be published by Black Pepper in 2009. Together with Sydney poet, Kate Waterhouse, she co-edited the anthology Motherlode (Puncher & Wattmann 2009).

Teresa Bell has worked as an actor, producer and director. Her first play, Taizé, won the George Fairfax Prize. She is founding director of the Australian Poetry Centre and her first book 36: Formless Writings was launched in August and published by Flametree Creations.
