Year of Writing for Children
Saturday 20 March 2010 - Saturday 20 November 2010
This course introduces participants to the world of professional children’s writing and provides an opportunity to develop a particular piece of work over several months. Participants learn about writing for both the trade and education markets from one of Australia’s most successful children’s authors. The workshops include exercises that show how to develop plot lines, create three-dimensional characters, and tap into a writer’s imagination. Each workshop also includs a session reviewing each others’ work – an invaluable opportunity.
Nicolas Brasch has written more than 300 factual and fiction children’s books for both the educational and trade markets. They have been published by many of Australia’s leading publishers and have been sold in all English-speaking markets around the world. Several of them have won major awards. He regularly conducts workshops at various institutions and literary festivals.
